Support for local Dumfries and Galloway MP

Thank you for taking the time to sign my petition calling for the Scottish Government to listen to local people on wind farms.

The response to the petition has been phenomenal, with over 1200 signatures in two weeks. With this level of support Alex Salmond and the Scottish Government can’t keep ignoring the issue.

You may know that I wrote to the Scottish Environment Secretary, Fergus Ewing MSP, a few weeks ago asking him to come to Dumfries and Galloway to hear firsthand the concerns about wind turbines in our area. This week one of his Ministers replied to refuse this request. This again shows that they aren’t interested in listening to local people’s views. This makes me all the more determined to get as many people as possible to sign the petition. The more names we have when I present the petition to Alex Salmond, the bigger the impact we will have.

That is why I would like to ask for your help. I would be very grateful if you could ask friends or colleagues to sign the petition on the website at

Alternatively, if you know people who would like to show their support but don’t have internet access, you can now download and print out a paper copy of my petition from my website. Please return these to me at 5 Friars Vennel, Dumfries, DG1 2RQ before Monday 1st October for the names to be included in the petition.

Thank you again for your support. By working together to get as many people as possible signing the petition we can make sure that Alex Salmond knows how strongly we feel about the Government forcing more and more wind turbines on our area.

Yours sincerely

Russell Brown

MP for Dumfries and Galloway

About Dougal Quixote

Slightly mad. Always believes a cup is half full so continues to tilt at Wind Turbines and the politicians that seem to believe it is their god given right to ruin Scotland for a pot of fool's gold.

I have just returned from a bus trip to the Cotswolds, hardly a windfarm to be seen! Coming back to Scotland on the M74 they seem to be everywhere.
Back home in North Ayrshire I find that our local council have agreed to the erection of three gigantic OFFSHORE turbines on land at Hunterston, by SSE. as a test facility We already have a windfarm on the hills behind us and another 4 miles away at Ardrossan. We must put a this wanton destruction of our lanscapes. You have my support. Jack Bryson.
