This is a relatively small scale wind farm in height and capacity terms but horrendous all the same. Warning notices on the gates are illuminating. Adders are around so, although not said in so many words, don’t enter site. Why have they counted them? Not too sure how that would wear north of the border(Acces rights legislation) but it does reflect the truth that wind farm companies don’t really want people walking through their wind farms. The annual estimated output has been covered up although the claim to households supplied is still there. Taking a more realistic target of 21% and a medium sized house of some 54kwhr per day would reduce the numbers from 19,000 to 3,300. This is using figures trolled from the DECC and such as REF and JMT. There are any number of unrealsitic claims before the ASA at this time. Green Rig Wind Farm is owned by EDF (Electricité de France). A company wholly owned by the French State. Doesn’t it make you feel good that wind is a UK industry??

Wind V. Coal
Quote of the Decade
"The trouble with wind farms is that they have a very large spatial footprint for a piddling little bit of electricity. You would need 8oo turbines to produce the output of a coal-fired power station."
