This is getting silly. Now E-On have applied for three masts at Inverwick Forest which is in Glenmoriston between Millenium(Falck) and the proposed West Glenmoriston(Bhlaraidh)(SSE). Beinneun(Ridgewind) was also recently approved just a couple of miles to the west. With the Beauly-Denny line also passing through Glenmoriston, a historic and beautiful area for walkers and climbers is being systematically ravaged. This is the main route through to Skye. This is part of the Loch Ness ring of steel and only a few miles east of the new SSE Coire Glas Hydro Scheme. The original Balmacaan, first renamed Bhlaraidh and now referred to as West Glenmoriston, was for some 138 turbines. Now reduced to 36, should we expect a prompt application for an extension should the original application be approved? This really is beyond a joke.
With the proposed rise in Planning Charges and Salmond’s open door, Martini policy(anytime, anyplace, anywhere) the developers have little to lose. It was quoted that 85% of large wind farms, >50mw, are approved. Look closely at the figures. Take out those prior to the announcement of targets by the FM and the percentage rise to 92%. Now if I were a betting man, that looks pretty good odds to me!
