There is not often that I am completely lost for speech but the approval today of 96 turbines at Kilgallioch is one such time. This is a map of the area literally trashed with turbines. If this was an area that no one lived we might consider it appropriate but people do live here and one day Scottish Ministers may be held to account. I wouldn’t be in their shoes when it happens. I think the anotation “Kilgallioch and Purgatory” says it all. That it is part of a major walking route and the developers have offered two Rangers as recompense is literally rubbing salt into the wound. Could it be that their real job definition is bird buriers? One should remember that the original application was for considerably more and are we to expect an application for an extension any day soon?
Iberdrola, the Spanish owned developer of Kilgallioch has been having a little Mafia trouble with their wind farms in Scicily that has resulted in substandard materials and sub standard work. Let us hope that the Planning authorities check the quality of the UK wind farms. As of now there is no inspectorate to check quality of intallation of wind farms in the UK. The Mafia story here! HSE only become involved after a fatal accident.
