They work for you!

Houses-of-Parliament-4It may sometimes seem incredible but our members of Parliament do actually work for us. Whether they listen to us is often debatable. However two separate petitions are doing the rounds and for those uninitiated, the scheme works that if a petition to HM Government reaches one hundred thousand they are obliged to carry it forward for debate in a Parliamentary Committee. OK, most then disappear into oblivion but the occasional one does end up changing things. At the very least it awakens the attention of the committee members that there is something that needs consideration. Unfortunately as so many worship the Green God, we are reliant on the few to fight our cause, but then it was the few that won the Battle of Britain!

1. “Low frequency sound from wind farms” from Alistair Nelson (alastairnelson@btinternet.com)
Responsible department: Department for Energy and Climate Change

Health impacts caused by low-frequency noise (infrasound) from wind turbines have been known to US and Australian researchers and the renewable energy industry for more than 25 years, yet many people who claim to suffer from ‘Wind Turbine Syndrome’ because wind turbines are placed to close to their houses are being ignored or even ridiculed.

In light of this, it is imperative that the government immediately implements an independent survey into low-frequency noise and infrasound. Until this survey reports the government must immediately place an exclusion zone of at least 3 kilometres between wind turbines and any residence in the UK. Any turbine within this exclusion zone should immediately be switched off, and the structure removed within 90 days.

The survey should be undertaken by experts in low frequency sound who are totally independent of any power company or the renewable industry.

2. Stop Wind Turbines From Using Free Electricity – GLARE – Galloway Landscape and Renewable Energy. (www.glare.org.uk)

Responsible department: Department for Energy and Climate Change

Large wind turbines require a large amount of electricity to operate. Currently the operator of the wind turbine is allowed to use electricity from the grid without paying for it.

Some of the functions that use free electricity are:

Yaw mechanism, blade-pitch control, lights, controllers, communication, sensors, metering, data collection, heating the blades, heating and dehumidifying the nacelle, oil heater, pump, cooler, and filtering system in gearbox, hydraulic brakes, thyristors, magnetizing the stator and using the generator as a motor.

Any electricity that is used from the grid should be properly metered and paid for by the operator of the wind turbine at the same price available to normal consumers.

The petition can be found at:

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/52566

Please go to these petitions and sign them because without the Critical Mass they will end up in the bin.
