Cause for celebration as the application for 23 wind turbines of 495ft, the highest onshore in the UK was refused under a Section 36 determination by the Scottish Ministers. The best part of three years hard work and worry which brought the three community councils, local residents, local pressure groups, councillors and the Highland Council together in opposition. Hopefully this will be the end of this sorry tale. The community deserve the right to draw a line under this. There has been enough harm done!
I would like to dedicate this post to John Mackenzie, a stalwart supporter and financial backer to the opposition, who passed away only a few weeks ago. One of the nearest homes to the proposed application it would have been marvellous to share a glass with him at the celebrations. Certainly the worry and stress will not have helped his health in the final weeks.
Just to update on the clean green Druim Ba Sustainable Energy with their pot of Community Gold at the end of the Rainbow. DBSE is a limited liability company created by European Forest Resources(Scotland), a self standing subsidiary of European Forest Resources which is part of Louis Dreyfus, a french based multi national. For their green credentials follow this link: Louis Dreyfus, Brazilian Bio-ethanol. Yes that is where they are grubbing out great tracts of the rainforest for bio fuels and dispossessing the indigenous people of their lands, their farms and their livelihoods. More about Bio-fuels and Louis Dreyfus. And we must remember that their second attempt at the Rape of Scotland goes ahead at Fauch Hills where blatant bribery is in full swing with the support of the British Pipe Band Championships at Bathgate. Community Benefits are bad enough but to prejudice the outcome of an application with financial backing of this sort should not be allowed. Of course if this application also gets turned down we shall at least have the last laugh!
