Wynne Passes the Buck on Chatham-Kent Airport

Those that follow my blog know I get kinda cross about the arrogance of planners and developers when aviation matters are raised. From recent comments by the chiefs of the Air Staff I am not alone. Over the last few years the RAF have been gagged by an organisation of un-civil servants called MOD Safeguarding. One comment I have oft repeated is “RAF pilots are trained to see and avoid” YEAH! So you think everyone else is trained to see and NOT avoid! Obviously a qualification for this job is to state the blindingly obvious! However the reason the Government approved this department had been the number of complaints raised by RAF station commanders. In the early days of MOD Safeguarding they failed to object to a wind farm near RAF Valley because they forgot until just before the cut off date and then claimed if they objected that late, but still within the timescale, the developer might sue. Sue all you like big buddy! I’ll just toodle over with my Tornado and have a little target practice.

However, for whatever reason, and I am pretty damn sure that RAF have some damn good reasons, the big cheeses have decided to bypass the trolls and have raised a whole raft of objections.  I have little doubt that Davey and Salmond are really pissed off but in the final account, peoples lives are at stake. In a recent comment, it was pointed out that a Typhoon travelling at 500mph back to Lossiemouth has enough on his plate without the Scottish Minsters sticking a load of toothpicks around his playpen! This link suggests that Ontario have totally lost the plot, surrounding their civil airports with rows of turbines. Well I will make an offer. I will take Wynne up from Chatham-Kent airport on a day when the ducks are walking and see how safe she feels! I will guarantee her a ride she will never forget!
