And we can mitigate on Flight Safety!

As many will be aware I am rather critical of the DECC and their satellites on flight safety and the ability to propose untried mitigation techniques on radar for air traffic and defence. This film shows the effect of zoning out clutter effect. The aircraft is then virtually lost in the field of turbines. Just imagine this with a variety of different aircraft in the area. In all fairness this is fairly simplistic as many air traffic would be dealing with transponder equipped aircraft which adds a tag to the aircraft on the screen.

About Dougal Quixote

Slightly mad. Always believes a cup is half full so continues to tilt at Wind Turbines and the politicians that seem to believe it is their god given right to ruin Scotland for a pot of fool's gold.

So, essentially, any non-transponding light aircraft, microlights & gliders become invisible, when large windfarms are concerned!

I’m glad I managed to get 20 years of pleasure flying under my belt before too many of these pointless monstrosities sprang up…

    • Yup, If you ain’t a jet jockey you are effectively below the radar, both metaphorically and physically. Don’t forget the EU tried to foist Transponder Mode S onto even the smallest gliders a few years back. I think they would have liked to foist them on parachutes but then that is pure cynicism. At the time there was little below about 10k although prices have dropped now. Still a considerable capital outlay though. I thought you knew the EU doesn’t do PLEASURE, just pain and anguish! I suppose you can save your pennies and buy one of the new Pilatus PC24 light jets. An aircraft that is European built but not in the EU.

  3. It’s not just air traffic – in Europe they are now also blinding the weather radars. And these radars can’t be raised to indefinite heights (apart from the question if that should come out of citizens’ electricity bill as well?). So what have we: birds and bats killed, ok. In the name of climate mitigation. Now, next stop: people killed by colliding air planes. I wonder who’s next. Ah yes, forgot the looming blackouts.
