“Bats fly when there’s a relatively low wind speed and the turbine won’t be running at those times.”
RSPB is to fit one Turbine at it’s Sandy Headquarters near Biggleswade to single handedly counter Climate Change. I won’t subject you to the video of the RSPB representative spouting forth on how this one turbine will kill less birds than Climate Change and will, on it’s own, change the World, because I can’t afford being sued by you all for new computers after you have thrown your coffee at the screen or thrown the laptop out of the window. They reckon it will supply two thirds of the centres power. What absolute and utter tosh. Even the best sited wind farms only produce 25% of capacity and a single turbine of this type and inland location could do well to produce 14-16%. Unless they have a method of storing through batteries, the actual throughput will be a fraction of the 66% they have suggested. On farm turbines suggest that they will reduce electricity bills by somewhere in the area of 5-6%. This is mostly because wind is not demand driven and power created at 4.00am is virtually useless. As a cash register may be but as eco friendly reduce my bills scenario it is total and absolute rubbish! The fact is that wind turbines kill birds. RSPB says Climate Change (?) will kill more but never refers to their members cats attrition on the avian population. RSPB has become a quasi political activist organisation which has totally and absolutely lost the plot. If anything proves the fact, this really does. As to the bats comment this flies in the face of all empirical experience. Bats are are killed in their thousands by wind turbines when their lungs explode due to atmospheric pressure variance around the blade vortices. If RSPB’s comments had any substance no bats would be killed. Again they are talking Bovine Excrement!
