Greece “fines” Siemens €330 million for corruption

bungSiemens have come to a settlement which pays the Greek Government €330 million. Click the link for the full story. However we should just consider the corporate attitude that allowed this corruption to get to this stage and look at the amount of business Siemens has acquired in the UK around the Beauly-Denny line and the wind industry. Whilst I am in no way impugning that corruption of this or any level occurs in the UK and that Siemens are any better or worse than any other global player in markets where considerations and commissions are the norm the fact remains that an important player in the UK energy market has reached such an agreement with Greece.
