Argyll Array(Tiree) Wind Farm Abandoned!

Technical issues plus the large presence of basking sharks named as the cause. Well one species rarely eats it’s own! The whole story from the BBC here This was a massive £5.4 billion investment in 300 turbines. Does this herald the end for off-shore wind in Scottish Waters?

A Caveat: Before we gloat too much we should consider how many onshore turbines this three hundred off-shore turbines could have replaced because the fact remains that the Scottish Government, if building off-shore proved untenable due to the demands on technology of such a hostile environment could well encourage a vast expansion of on-shore wind

About Dougal Quixote

Slightly mad. Always believes a cup is half full so continues to tilt at Wind Turbines and the politicians that seem to believe it is their god given right to ruin Scotland for a pot of fool's gold.

This is brilliant news. Less subsidy sucked from the pockets of the taxpayer. This was never a viable project.
