Wind: Pickles’ record since June 2013

Since publishing new wind energy guidance last June, Pickles has decided eight such recovered appeals, including the Highbridge scheme. Of these, he has dismissed seven.

October 2013: Pickles blocked plans for six turbines straddling Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire.

December 2013: 12-turbine wind farm straddling Northamptonshire, Bedford-shire and Buckinghamshire refused.

December 2013: Pickles refused an application for a six-turbine wind farm in Cumbria.

January 2014: Pickles dismissed an appeal for a 62-metre turbine near the Cumbrian coast on the grounds of landscape harm.

February 2014: Pickles refused permission for a 47-metre turbine in the Lake District National Park.

February 2014: Pickles approved plans for seven wind turbines in Essex.

March 2014: Pickles refused plans for nine turbines in Leicestershire.

Oh that we could have any Eric Pickles in Scotland!
