Bonfire of Insanities!

MoS2 Template Master

As we fight for our Forests, our hills and our Glens vested interests destroy other lands to help the UK comply with a stupid and political target signed by a foolish Prime Minister much to the horror of his advisers at the time. Drax was changed from Coal to Biomass just at the time when US Shale Gas drove a collapse in coal prices. This article in the Daily Mail asks the question. We all ought to be asking the same. Wood may be technically renewable but the truth is what can be burnt in minutes takes a generation to grow. Renewable? We would not accept seven million tons a year ripped from the UK forestry estate per power station and Tilbury has similar demands. After all our trees are the carbon soak that balances our natural environment.

One Response to Bonfire of Insanities!

  1. Rick Ladds says:

At last someone has told some of the story of Drax! The other parts that I’m aware of are not just the transport of the pellets by ship, but I understand that the ships will be docking and offloading their cargo directly into the railway trucks that will transport it to Drax – but the pellets must not get wet – so no outside storage – at either end – so the trucks will offload into a very small undercover area for almost immediate use. So – one train breakdown, one derailment, one anything – and shut down Drax. Wonderful system. It was detailed in Railway magazine some 6 months ago.
The very best of luck with your campaign – you are not alone!
