Actually, the LFTR is a Molten Salt design and there now exists an even superior version. http://transatomicpower.com is a very recent arrival, the improvement being mostly the use of a better moderator, a solid metal hydride. It is calculated as being able to use spent fuel from LWRs, after removing just the fission products, about 3% to 4% of the mass.
