Why the Climate Change Act should be repealed

Many believe that Climate is changing and should be a great concern. Climate has changed for millennia and it will continue to change/evolve. The fact is that what some call Climate Change others call weather events. In these days of an immediate media many events are blamed on Climate Change because we know about them instantaneously. Before the internet and modern communications it was often months and sometimes years before we would hear of an event the other side of the world. However look back in history and little is new. The hundred year’s storm is precisely that. A mega event that happens once in a century. Before we jump to the assumption that an event is triggered by climate we should consider if it is new or simply a re-enactment of events in the past. The Industry of Climate Change is now all encompassing. Even the RSPB now have a training session – Stop Climate Chaos Scotland. They encourage those that are already indoctrinated to ‘learn the facts’. Can we expect a balanced debate? Can we hell! Too many snouts in the trough for that!

What we have in the world at this time is a major population growth problem and a biblical exodus from North Africa. Whilst we spend zillions on Climate and waste time and effort, the rest of the world is going to hell in a handcart. The problems need solving in the middle east, not in europe. What we are seeing now though is that same political enthusiasm to use the exodus of Syria to drive a left wing political agenda as we have for years seen with Climate Change.

Climate does change. It has since the first ice age. The last ice age arrived in six months. However the impact of man is as an ant on an elephants back. What we need to do is learn from the past and adapt to the future. I commend Douglas Brodie on his letter and support his view that the Act should be repealed.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Why the Climate Change Act should be Repealed

I am a retired engineer who is horrified at how climate change political correctness is leading our country into electricity blackouts and economic decline, all for marginal climate and sustainability benefit. I have taken the liberty to sending this email to all Tory MPs because I expect that my MP Mr Drew Hendry will not support my case, as it goes against SNP policies. Only the Tory Party, now free from coalition constraints, can avert the impending disaster.

I urge you to read at least the opening and closing pages of my carefully referenced paper Why the Climate Change Act should be Repealed, which gives this disgruntled voter’s views on why so-called “climate change” is a non-problem and why the government’s efforts to tackle this non-problem are proving to be ineffectual yet destructive. My paper has been informally peer-reviewed by two professional experts. It gives plain speaking support to the arguments presented by ex-environment minister Owen Paterson in his lecture Keeping the Lights On, given last October at Lord Lawson’s Global Warming Policy Foundation think tank.

I believe that considered withdrawal from the costly, futile, destructive and, if reality is acknowledged, unattainable decarbonisation targets of the Climate Change Act would be popular with the public if explained properly, e.g. by emphasising the progress on energy efficiency (as opposed to failing, ruinous decarbonisation). It would leave the leftist parties in disarray, wedded as they are to the full climate change agenda of “money no object” futile internationalist gestures and statist, interventionist regulation and control.

The issue of climate change has an important bearing on the December Paris climate summit. I very much hope that we will avoid committing to any damaging, unattainable “UN world governance” emissions reduction targets. Repatriation of our energy policies should also be a major issue for the current EU renegotiations on the terms of continued UK membership, to be voted on by 2017.

Yours faithfully,

Douglas S Brodie, BSc

I was furious to discover a while ago that all the Scottish churches have signed up to this ridiculous Stop Climate Chaos and were asking their members to write to Sturgeon supporting her. My protests have been ignored of course.
