UK’s National Grid Alert – 04/11/15

Didcot Power Station one week before it was closed

Didcot Power Station one week before it was closed

Due to problems at Wester Balblair Transmission hub the capacity from the Highlands of Scotland is limited to 40% with replacement equipment not due until April. Mind you we haven’t had a breath of wind for four days anyway. This seems not to be an isolated problem! As power stations have been closed in compliance with EU (Germany’s) AGW panic without new 24/7/365 built to replace it the day of reckoning was on the cards. I think we need to ignore all the Greentards and Lib-Dims and start providing future capacity without obeying EU Diktats which will delay work for twelve months whilst environmental surveys (the cut and paste industry of overpaid eco consultants) are done.

Today the Grid had to ask for 500mw extra capacity from diesel generators. Interesting the wind over the UK has not blown to order. This is the lowest level of impending disaster with two more levels still to go.

National Grid’s levels of alert

Level 1 – We are buggered.

Level 2 – We are really truly buggered.

Level 3 – Will the last person to leave lock the door!
