A very brief point on house prices

Both the DECC and Renewables UK cite a report by RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) that state house prices aren’t degraded by wind farms. Written by a couple of Chartered Surveyors them – they should know. Well no actually. Written by two member of the Oxford Brookes University (the old Polytechnic to you and me). I won’t bore you with detail but 50% was about man made global warming and that sort of thing. However look through the sparse details and you will find-

“Terraced houses sited within 1 mile of a wind farm were observed to be 54 per cent lower in value and semi detached houses within 1 mile of the nearest turbine were 35 per cent lower than similar houses at a distance of four miles.”

Now that doesn’t sound like wind farms prices won’t degrade house prices. Quite the opposite in fact and proves DECC and Renewables UK to be blatant liars. Why hasn’t RICS objected to the mis-use and mis-quotation of their report. Noble cause corruption?

About Dougal Quixote

Slightly mad. Always believes a cup is half full so continues to tilt at Wind Turbines and the politicians that seem to believe it is their god given right to ruin Scotland for a pot of fool's gold.
